Do You Make New Year’s Resolutions? Do You Keep Them?

The New Year is the perfect time to start fresh and make resolutions. If you’re like most people, you’ve made many New Year’s Resolutions but failed to keep them over the years. This year is going to be different. This year, you’re going to succeed.

The year is almost up, so we’re all trying to accomplish as many goals as possible before December 31st. But before we begin to feel disappointed about this year, why not look at how we can keep the resolutions we will be setting for next year. Resolutions are challenging because they require you to change your habits, which is difficult. So, whether you’re starting from scratch or making changes to an existing goal, these seven tips will help you stick to your goals and make sure they don’t fall through. You’ll feel like a winner without having to exercise extra willpower and give up something. That might seem like a no-brainer, but for some people, it’s easier said than done! To make sure your resolution sticks this year, follow these 7 Tips For Sticking to New Year Resolutions and make 2022 your best year yet!

7 TIPS FOR STICKING TO NEW YEAR RESOLUTIONS

  1. Make your goals SPECIFIC, MEASURABLE, and ACHIEVABLE. (Specific example – I want to improve my overall credit score so that I can apply for a mortgage at the end of next year. Measurable example – I will pay all my debt ten days early and reduce my debt principal by 20% to increase my credit score to at least 799. Achievable example – I will pay an additional $1,000 to my loan principal each month).
  1. Set realistic DEADLINES for the goals. (Example: I will pay an additional $1,000 to my loan-principal each month for ten months)
  1. Have a PLAN B. Identify a contingency should you not follow through on the achievable aspects within the set timelines. You may consider revising the deadline, but it is best to make your Plan B achievable within the set timelines as well.
  1. Make it about more than just you – How will OTHERS benefit? There is an unexplained success/benefit when you give support to others. So, feel free to set goals that will first serve others. We guarantee you the reward will be worth it!
  1. Make a public COMMITMENT. Share it with friends and family or someone you trust to hold you accountable in a responsible way.
  1. CONSISTENTLY track your progress, so you don’t get discouraged.
  1. REWARD yourself when each milestone is achieved. It does not have to be a huge self-appreciation, but at least a personal compliment at each stage. That will allow you to value the process and boost your confidence to carry on through to the end.

Indeed, the New Year is an excellent time for people to make positive changes in their lives. Whether you’re trying to lose weight, get fit, or generally improve yourself, it can be challenging to stick with your goals. So, remember, as you approach the New Year, consider yourself a winner from the start. Apply the tips we have provided, and we are confident they will help you stick to your resolutions and keep you motivated and on the right track.
